Do Ya Feel Me?

The fall 2015 Proenza Schouler collection just begs to be felt. A carefully conceived combination of beautiful, sophisticated fabrics and textures dominated the form-fitting looks and stark color palette. Not to be outdone by the actual clothing, PS’s accessories added yet another crucial (and I might add, covetable) layer to the collection.

Thick-heeled mules crafted from deconstructed basket-woven plastic gave the appearance of being set free, wild strips danced around the wearers feet as they were set in motion. Dense felts were wrapped and knotted over the foot of another style giving sharp contrast to legs dressed in graphic black hose which anchored every last look on the runway, thus creating the perfectly pitched dramatic effect of craft vs. modern.

Oversized shoulder bags carried like satchels were juiced up in matte faux-crocs, fuzzy furs, soft woolens and rich pony-skin hides. Nubby wraps added a certain element of coziness, contrasting against the rigorous black leather headbands shown throughout, keeping just the right amount of push-pull in play. Twisted metal bangles and rings added a smooth, architectural touch to the clothes, perhaps standing in for other more traditional forms of shiny embellishment. Earthy, slick, sophisticated and womanly, the Proenza Schouler collection feels oh’ so right this season.
